Man all I wanted to do today was stay in bed/ lay on the couch. It seems like I just don't wake up when its cloudy and raining all day.
The past week the weather has been amazing here in Maine. With a week of sun and warm temps I noticed my energy level very high. Today its very low. It could have something to do with the fact that I spent a few hours ripping up the trails at Bradbury on Monday. Wheels called me Monday morning informing me he was going to be coming down for a mtn bike ride. Well, I couldn't resist, the park is 100% open and it sounded a hell of a lot better then riding down to Portland and going to the gym, then riding back. The fun factor was much higher riding the mtn bike, but the effort level was also much higher than the road. I have a hard time holding back when the trails are mint! I guess its like a boy in a candy shop. So with that said I was pretty lazy today. I did make it down to the gym. In fact I was feeling awesome in the gym, but I kept on yawning. The weather said we have received over 2 inches of rain this morning and another 2 today. Wow! thats a lot of rain. So with all the rain and me not feeling so hyped I up decided to switch things around and take today off! I think its a good call. I did get to see Bush talk this morning on TV. Has anyone else noticed that once the Democrats took over congress things in our nation have been going down hill? I don't agree with a lot of what Bush says, but he did make a lot of good points. I disagree with using Ethanol. I don't think its the way to go, and in fact i have a hard time calling in renewable energy and thats because of the amount of oil used to produce a gallon of ethanol. Why not drill in America? We have environmental laws in America where many other nations don't. We can get dirty oil from other nations, or we can get cleaner oil (oxymoron??) from home. The farm bill is out of control and congress wants to expand it and so on. Corn has tripled in price and yet we want to expand the government subsidies to multimillion dollar farmers. Now I am all for supporting local farmers, but those small local (and most of these small local farmers are organic) farmers, but giving subsidies to someone growing corn who doesn't need the extra $ I see a problem with. Also whats up with getting rid of the gas tax for the summer? Do you think saving $.15 on a gallon is really going to help you? Plus our nations info structure of roads are falling apart. We need that tax, get rid of it on gas, but be aware it will show up someplace else. We need something to reduce the cost of gas by more than $.15, we need $1 savings. To help with that I am going to continue to keep on doing what I do, ride my bike, and try to cut back as much as possible on electric and heat in the house. Good news is that the compost pile is looking good. I went hunting for worms on the wet driveway today. I found one live one and i put it into the compost pile. Hopefully that lonely worm will have a nice life in the compost pile. It will have lots of Bikeman Attack Blend coffee grinds to snack on! |
