Wow, my racing season and quite possibly my racing career almost came to an end this morning.

I decided it would be a good idea to ride down to Portland hop onto the PVC ride, and then cross town and hop onto the last part of the Gorham Bike and Ski ride. As I was locking up the garage this morning a PVC elite rider road by my house. I quickly hopped onto my bike and chased after him. The guy was Chris Green, a fast local cat 2 from what I know. It was good to ride down with him, he kept a pretty fast pace going.

About 8 minutes into the PVC ride there was a pretty nasty crash. All I remember is a red bike flying perpendicular to me was about to take me out. Instead gravity took it to the ground while i flew by it before the bike bounced off the pavement and into the sidewalk. I think at least two guys went to the hospital and a few others got some bad road rash. I am just so thankful that I was able to sneak through the crash. If I had to go the hospital it would have been a HUGE bill. Right now I have some health insurance, but its a high deductible. I would have had to sell my bikes to pay for the deductible and thus I would have been screwed!!

The thing that sucks is that if the PVC guys were careful and pointed out 6in deep pot holes then there teammate wouldn't have been airborne and would have been all set.

Anyways a few of us continued to ride, except not as hard. I still put in some good pulls and got a decent work out it, but man I am still shaken up by the crash.  Once I got home I had to take care of an out of control dirty bottle situation.

But the good news from earlier in the week is that I got some kick ass new kicks for the season!! Lake has come a long way in the last few years with there shoes. The Boa system is amazing! it gives you a nice firm comfortable yet tight fit around your foot. They are easy to get on and off, plus they are super light!  I already was able to get out on the dirt once with them and they are awesome!! THANK YOU LAKE!!!

I also got a few of these...

But the saddles were shipped to Winthrop instead of Yarmouth, so I actually haven't seen them yet. Hopefully I will meet up with the rents in the next day or two so I can pick up the saddles. AGAIN THANK YOU SELLE ITALIA

well thats it for now. i have to head up to Bowdoin college to watch Hattie's track meet. I am pretty excited for it. Then its back here for a nap!!
