I picked out a few road frames, and thought i would share what I like and dislike.
First off these are just my opinions on looks, not the ride, the material, the geo etc... | | 07 primero |
I like the Primero based on its color. I am a sucker for red and white frames. I also dig the matching Alpha Q fork. Straight forks I dig, Forks with a big rake-dislike. I dig the comp geo. And I love that its a super light steel frame. If I had the $ I would have def bought one. Its too bad Salsa isn't making it any more. Although after talking with the folks at Salsa and hearing there reasons for having to discontinue the frame I can't blame them for having to drop the bike. | | 08 giant tcr advanced |
I semi like this frame. If it didn't have the integrated seat post then it would be a like. How do you travel with a frame where you can't take out the seat post? Anyways, like the Primero I like the comp geo, the straight fork, and even though its not red and white I do dig the blue and black. The bike looks fast. | | 08 giant tcr team |
I dis like this frame because 1. it has the integrated seat post, and 2 I don't dig all the black. Put on some black shorts and jersey and you are going to look like Zoro. The bike looks to goth for me which isn't me. Sorry but I wouldn't get this bike | | 08 kona king zing |
I dis like the Kona, Sorry Wheels. I am not digging the paint job. To dull for me. Plus I am not digging the fork. The bike just doesn't look as fast as others to me. Although I do think this bike does fit well with the whole Kona brand. I am also not trilled about the seat post. Why not just use a 27.2 round seat post? this is just me being picky. | | 08 s works tarmack |
I really like this frame. Again like the Primero I am like the red white, but the black goes well. This frame looks fast! The curved top tube is very pleasing to the eye. Build this bike up with a Sram Red group, some Zipp wheels (because of there red and white logo) maybe some red Speedplays and you would have a sexy fast looking bike. Def a bike I wouldn't mind being seen on. | | 08 campeon |
I really like this bike! I love the majority of the frame being a fast sleek white, with some red tossed in there. The silver/gray pin stripes are just icing on the cake. Having the seat stays painted white instead of showing the carbon color is a plus! I think Salsa made a good choice on stocking there frames with the Alpha Q fork. I have an older Campeon with the Salsa full carbon fork and it doesn't look as sleek as the Alpha Q. Plus the Salsa fork is noticeably heavier than the Alpha Q. My Campeon is a few years old and will soon need to be replaced. Maybe in the next year or so I can be the cool guy riding one of these! So there you have it, a few bikes that I like, and a few i am not crazy about. Maybe early next week I will do this again, except for mountain bikes. I should have some photos up from Cali tonight. I am going home tonight for Easter so I can get the photos from my mom. Today I am riding my bike up to Winthrop, spending the night with the parents, church and Easter brunch tomorrow and then biking back down to Yarmouth. Saving some $ on gas, reducing my carbon foot print and most importantly getting in some good training. |
