bike stuff that is on my mind..
training is going well. I got my third straight day of intensity in. It was another good day in the books. I don't have a power meter so I can't post any graphs like other bloggers do. Even if I did have a power meter I wouldn't. My training is secret, kinda sorta. If you want to know more about it you are going to have to pay, and I will inform you. What is the point of an integrated seat post? Is that what its even called? You know where the seat post is part of the frame like on some very high end carbon frames? I was looking at some Scott frames and was amazed at how light it was and thinking about frames, and then it hit me, how the hell do you travel with one of those bikes? I know I have to take my seat post off when I box up my bike. If the the frame was a road frame how do you put it into a work stand? It seems that the frames are more of a hassle then they are worth. What do you gain out of not having a seat post other then the possibility of destroying your multi thousand dollar frame when you go to cut it for the height? I am glad Salsa isn't doing this, keep it simple, use a seat post. Any one get the new copy of Velo News ? The one with Astana on the front? In the back there is a good article on the U-23 national mtn bike team. You really get to know how self centered some of the riders are. When you go to buy your USAC license online it asks you if you want to donate to a variety of cycling organizations and I usually donate a buck or two to them. I figure if everyone who purchases a license donates a few dollars those organizations will be better off. Well one of the organizations is the national development team and I donated a few bucks to it. Never will I donate again. These kids are going to be living in Europe and racing there full time and they are upset! They are to concerned about themselves and there personal results regarding potential future sponsorship. They are missing the big picture and the reason USA Cycling is putting them up in Switzerland and having them race World Cups and Swiss Cups is to make them the best athletes they can be. Sam J is to worried that the results won't look good to North American sponsors and wont have a future racing bikes by doing this. Instead he wants to be state side, racing the same races and wasting my money. Those guys on the national team don't realize how good they have it. When I went to worlds in 2006 it cost me over $2,000 to represent our country (USA). Thankfully the local cycling community (esp Team Bikeman) helped me raise $1,000 to off set the cost. None of the U-23 national kids had to pay, my donations helped pay for there way to New Zealand. OK enough bickering about that article. The article just really upset me. Its a dream of mine to race in Europe and try to be the best athlete I can be. If given the opportunity to do something like that I would accept it in a heart beat. Tomorrow I am off to Calli! I need to pack, so I have to go, still more bike stuff on my mind I want to talk about, I got the negative stuff out tonight, so only good stuff next time. Hiking for a week with my brother and dad will be fun. |
