its been a few days since I have posted anything and those past few days have been really busy. I have a lot on my mind about bikes, the bike industry, racing etc.. that I want to touch on, but probably wont get to all of it today. This is probably a good thing for those of you that are reading.
First off I went down to Hattie's track meet Saturday at Harvard. This was a big eastern meet and it was her last time to improver her time of 8.48 in the 55m hurdles before nationals. Hattie ran well and placed 5th overall, but did not improve on her time. To make a long story short as of Sunday night she was still ranked 14th in the nation with two other girls (14, 15, and 15 all had a time of 8.48). Last year 16 girls went to nationals for the 55h, so we thought she was going to go. Turns out the NCAA for what ever reason decided to only take 13 girls. The last girl who was picked was ranked 13th with a time of 8.47. Its amazing how .01 seconds really matters in track. Hattie's heart is broken and I can't blame her. She put so much hard work into this season and came so close. I am still really proud of her and everything else she has accomplished this season. Hattie now holds 4 school records for indoor track. Not to mention she was the only one from USM to score points on the team at that meet. So with that said I took Hattie out for dinner tonight to try and cheer her up. We went to Bruce's Burritos in Yarmouth. Hands down 2nd best place to get a Burrito, 1st place is Dos Amigo's in Portsmouth NH. After filling up on a burrito I had to go to Best Buy. I have about a dozen resumes to send off and our printer is jamming and not printing square. I would look like a fool if I sent out a resume on wrinkle paper that isn't square. Staples can print for me, but they charge just under $.20 a page even if you supply the paper. Well my mom gave me an old printer that has a parallel plug and my computer takes USB. I wanted a converter from a parallel plug to a USB, not hard right? turns out the converter is $40! forget that! After looking at new printers and deciding we can't afford one Hattie and I browsed through some her favorite stores to help clear her mind. She was good and didn't buy anything. When I got home and actually investigated the old printer that my mom got rid of because of her new computer I realized it had a USB port in the back that my mom never saw. I guess she ended up buying a new printer for nothing, but good news is I scored one for free! Ok, so thats a lot of typing and I haven't even started to really talk about the bike stuff I wanted to. Quick recap on training stuff - I am feeling better, after almost two weeks of some pain in the rear end chest cold I am starting to do some intensity
- Sunday was my first real day of doing some blocks of hard efforts. Despite the cold weather my lungs were holding up great and the legs even better. I felt awesome for this time of year!
- Today I did some secret blocks of hard work outs (nope not going to tell you what) and I felt great again! The lungs again held up great in the cold weather (I have asthma and the cold weather really bothers it). My legs were virtually pain free. This is a good sign
- I should be able to get in two more days of good hard work outs before heading out to Cali. This is good, training is going well. I am happy.
Thats all I have time for now. I should have more to talk about tomorrow. It will be good, so check back! |
