I am starting to feel better finally, health wise... I still have some congestion in my chest, but minor nothing to keep me off the bike now, just enough to keep me from doing any intensity.
I subbed today at the middle school in the special ed room. The kids are funny and bright in there own way, but the day just drags on forever. Its just hard to stay energized when you are baby sitting a kid and watching him put together a puzzle. I will be in again tomorrow. By the time I got home I just wanted to sit down and chill for the rest of the afternoon. I managed to fight the lazy mood and dress up into my bike gear. I find getting on the bike is the hardest part of the ride because once I roll out of the driveway I end up having a good time, and today was no different. I just didn't want to ride today, but once I got on the bike and moving I was having a good time. The roads in Yarmouth are crap! Freeport = good roads, Cumberland = good roads, Falmouth = good roads, Yarmouth = death zone pot holes! The Campeon does a good job smoothing out the ride, but its still brutal out there. The El Santo is really the bike to be on when riding in Yarmouth. I remember my first road bike, a 00 Trek 2200, bright red, aluminum frame, decent bike, but man was it a rough ride. Then for a couple of years I road a Giant TCX (cross frame) and had a carbon seat post. The carbon made a big difference (mostly because of the compact frame) but was still rather bumpy. Then I got onto the Campeon, a nice smooth ride. I think I can get another year out of the bike and then it will be time to replace it. This will be my third year on it and the bike has seen its fair share of abuse. After todays ride Hattie called and wanted to see if I would come down to Portland have have Sushi with her. Of course I said yes and we went out for dinner. I like going out for sushi, it tastes great and the best part is it isn't expensive! We haven't been able to eat dinner with each other much lately, so it was nice to spend some time with her. After dinner she had to go to track practice and I made a trip to Sam's Club to stock up on some food items. Now I need to spend some time looking up places to stay on my hiking trip that is just over a week away! take care |
