I think between John and I we have 30+ bike type water bottles at our house...
The other day I noticed my milk crate of water bottles was running low. Hmmm where could they all have gone? Well I went on a little hunt. I found 8 in the back of my car, and two on my bike in the basement. All of which needed a good scrubbing. Now the milk crate is looking full and happy. As I was going about my business washing all the bottles Burnsy made a comment that if there were a contest for number of water bottles in the house we could probably win. This is probably true. Why does one house need 30+ water bottles? Well the answer is simple. Because we use them and need them! Every year you loose one here and there at a race, every now and then one rolls under your car seat and gets moldy to the point of no return, you throw one at a lady who almost killed you because she is talking on her cell phone and not paying attention to her driving, and so on... At a big race you need at least 10 bottles, a few for warm up, 4-6 for during the race filled with varieties of stuff depending on what you crave, and a few for a cool down/recovery drink. So basically its important to have a lot of water bottles. They are often over looked and not appreciated enough. I am very thankful to my sponsor Salsa Cycles for hooking me up with a good quantity of them every year. Remember hydration is the key to success! |
