No complaints about this weekend. I was lucky enough to be able to take care of my dog (really my parents dog) Maggie for the weekend. Plus Hattie had another steller weekend and the riding was great!
Hattie had a home meet on Saturday. This meant I would finally be able to go see her compete this year! The meet was in Gorham and started at 1:00. So in order for me to get in a ride and make it over to Gorham in time for her meet I would ride to Gorham and put my bike in the car. The ride over was good. I ran into Marry Ann Stover on the ride and talked with her for a few. Turns out she is crazy enough to do the Jay Peak Winter bike race. Good Luck to you. Turns out the winds were crazy strong and I was riding into them! This slowed me down, forcing me to pick up the pace in order to make it in time for the meet. The legs felt good pushing a harder gear than normal this time of year. Turns out I made it just in time to watch Hattie's first flight of the hurdles. She ran an 8.69! thats more than .1 faster than last week, a new PR!! The meet went until 7pm, but I didn't mind, because I was able to meet up with some friends I haven't seen in a while and the time went by quickly. After the meet Hattie and I along with some friends went out for dinner. It was great to just relax and socialize with friends. Sunday I was up semi early and planned to go do the ride I wanted to last week, but couldn't because I forgot my shoes. This time I didn't forget anything. So I drove up to West Minot and parked my car in a church parking lot. www.mapmyride.com said the loop would be about 60 miles or just over. Turns out the ride was 75 miles! I knew it was going to be hilly, but I forgot how big the climbs were! This meant I was running out of day light and again had to pick up the pace. I pulled off a 17+mph avg when all said and done. The up side was that across the street from the church was a general store. The general store had a bakery and they even had carrot cake! So I picked up a piece and enjoyed it on my ride home. I was rushing to get back home in time for the big game, the Super Bowl. I made it home in time for kick off. Enough said about that. No phone call this morning to go sub. I have to pack up Maggie's stuff and get her ready to go home. My parents fly in this afternoon and I have to pick them up. It will be sad to see Maggie go, but she is high maintenance, so it will free up some time. Enjoy your day. |
