yup it is that time of year again, race season is hear.
first off sorry for the long delay in posts, I've been very busy lately. In February a full time job position opened at Poland Spring in the planning department. I had been interning at Poland Spring for a while and thought that the job would be a good fit so I applied as an internal applicant. At the time I was only working two days a week and the rest of my time was spent at Starbucks. I had the opportunity to increase my hours at Poland Spring at this time and decided it would be best to do so as it would increase face time with the hiring managers. So before I knew it I was working 3 or for days a week at Poland Spring and 3 or 4 days a week at Starbucks from February through March. I believe I went three straight weeks with out a day off, crazy! But the good news is that all the hard work paid off! I interviewed for the position around 1:30 and was offered the job by 3:00 that same day! So now I have resigned from Starbucks and am a full time employee at Poland Spring Bottling, a division of Nestle Waters. Not to shabby. So back to my original topic, race season- Saturday was the start of the Root 66 Series down in Middlebury CT. The drive is wicked long but worth it. Just seeing everyone again was great. The race wasn't to shabby, 8th out of maybe 20 pro's, 5 minutes or so back from the winner. The top two guys are racing a bunch of the US Cups and to only be a few minutes off their pace makes me feel good. I know what kind of effort those two guys are putting into their training and I can safely say I am not putting in anywhere near the same amount of effort this year. So with less effort put into my training and still a decent result makes me feel good. On a side note I was racing on a 2002 Trek Fuel 100 with V-brakes in the rear! I am currently in a rut and with out a 29'er. Hopefully the new Superfly will be here soon! Next race is Sunday the 18th, Fat Tire Classic! This race really is a classic, at least in my books. 2010 will be my 10th or 11th year racing the Fat Tire Classic!! Can't wait! |
