Somehow mice have found a way into the basement of the 497.

We never had a problem with mice at the 497. Our neighbor used to have a cat which would hang around our house which was great. We reaped the benefits of having a cat but didn't have to take care of it. Our neighbor cleaned the litter box and fed it. The cat in return killed all the mice in the neighbor hood and left the dead carcasses at our neighbors door step!

Well our neighbor's daughter took the cat with her mice have appeared in our basement. I can't seem to figure out where they are coming from. I have taken the insulation down between the foundation and floor board and cant seem to find any holes. So here is my solution:

Mice meet D-Con, D-con meet mice...

In other news I am learning how to ride again. Seems with the changing of the season you have to learn how to ride all over again.

1st off if you are going to commute 33miles into work, work 8-9hrs then ride 33miles home you better bring a LOT of food! About 3/4 of the way home last week I started to bonk hard! I had to pull over and eat a granola bar and power bar just to make it home! Lesson learned- eat more food before leaving work!

2nd I am learning what it takes to stay warm in the winter. Seems one can easily forget how many layers are needed to stay warm when the temps are below freezing. It wont be long before I have to bring out the good ol' Lake winter riding boots.

thats it for now. take care, stay warm and make sure you are consuming enough calories during your work outs!
