I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Holiday.

My Holiday started out pretty early in the morning. I was up early and preparing for the Thanksgiving Day 4miler in Portland. I ran in this race last year and did alright, in the 80's out of 1,500 runners. This year the field of runners was just as large, if not larger then last years. I heard 1,600 runners, but that isn't official. Before I get into any detailed running report let me just say that I AM NOT A RUNNER! and this race reminds me of how much more fun biking is than running!

I wasn't even half way into the race and I wanted to drop out! My legs were taking a beating and I was loosing positions fast! As I limped up the hills of Portland I thought to myself of how much energy I have left in the tank and thought "if I were on a bike right now I could just stand up on the pedals and go!" Talk about frustration! After about 25 minutes of pain my race was over, I finished 88th, not to bad... The race did remind me why I don't run and how thankful I am for bikes.

The afternoon was spent at Hattie's house. We had the usual Thanksgiving dinner, turkey and all the side dishes. Like many Americans I ate too much food. Soon after dinner I became lethargic and fell asleep in some awkward position that I would later pay for in neck pains. All in all it was a great Thanksgiving and it made me realize how many things I have in life to be thankful for.

The three days after Thanksgiving were spent in pure pain! My legs were so SORE!! I could barely walk let alone bend over and pick something up! I tried doing an hour of Tae-Bo Saturday to warm up and loosen the muscles before getting in a good stretch. The hour of cardio kick boxing was more of a laughing scene then anything else. It wasn't until Sunday when I was able to actually get out for another ride and spin out the legs. The ride seemed to do the trick as they are no longer in pain. I can walk more like a normal human again.

so that is about it for now, another busy week ahead of me. Three days at Poland Spring, followed by three days at the S-bux. The weather looks decent for Tuesday and Wed so hopefully I can ride into the plant those two days.
