Just a quick recap on today's race. I finished 3rd and Hattie finished her first race ever!
The course was pretty tough, tons of roots and rocks. Last time I raced at Wompatuck was back in 2005 and I don't remember it being so tough. I think in the last four years a ton of rocks fell from the sky covering the land with rocks and roots! Not to mention the small amount of rain we received in Maine yesterday was actually a good soaking down in MA. This made for one slick and tough race. I almost bailed a few miles into the race after a tough down hill. After some of the other pro's crashed on the decent I figured I should go back and get Hattie. All I could think about during the race was her and hoping she was alright. Turns out she was fine, and doing well. She did endo into a big mud puddle but besides that nothing major. We both had a blast! Well thats it for now, it has been a wicked long day, time for bed. Off to Poland Spring tomorrow- not sure if I am going to ride in, a 50 mile commute tomorrow sounds like a little to much. |
