Day 4 and 5
Day 4 went pretty well. The course was about 65 to 70k with about 1,800m of climbing. That’s about 5,500ft of climbing for us Americans. The day was spent climbing under power lines where the soil was dry while the bring sunshine slowly backed us. Between climbing the course would cut back into the woods for some sweet sections of single track. An amazing day for sure. Burns was have a tough time with his back. He was a beast and fought through the day as we finished in 8th for the two man teams and moved our way back up to 8th overall! Not to shabby. Day 5- Apparently the stage was to tough (70k with 2,200m of climbing) so it was shortened to about 50k and a ton of climbing. Burns was again hurting, probably more than the past two days. All the traveling between stages is really starting to take a beating on us. We ended up loosing some time but I believe we are still within the top 10, not sure though. Right now we are in Squamish where we will be here for tonight and tomorrow. Hopefully the lack of travel over the next two days will help. |
