Overall I must say today was a pretty good day. It beat yesterday by a long shot.
Basically the weather in Maine has completely sucked lately. Cold windy and rain! It has been raining for the past 5 days (with the exception of 3 hours Saturday morning) and it doesn't look like it is about to let up any time soon. Lets just say I was less than thrilled to head out Sunday afternoon. But I somehow found the energy to gear up and head out for a multi hour ride. About an hour into the ride I was riding along North Road in Pownal and was about to ride over a set of railroad tracks. Out of the blue my front wheel went sideways and my body continued to go straight forward into the pavement! My cat like reflexes helped me as I extended my right arm out to soften my fall as I rolled over once or twice. I was able to rise from the pavement quickly with no scrapes, just some sore muscles and some really sore fingers. My bike on the other hand took a little more of a beating. My rear shifter/brake lever was bent 90degrees in and my stem was all out of wack. Thankfully Hattie was able to come to the rescue and pick me up. I was thinking about going back out for a ride, but my shoulder blade and hip were to sore. I figured i had enough for the day and spent the afternoon on the couch where I finished watching the movie I fell asleep to the night before. Today was a different story. It was still raining (6 +straight days in a row now of rain) and wicked windy outside. Again I somehow found the energy to gear up and head out for a ride. However, today was completely different. I didn't fall on any rail road tracks and instead felt awesome throughout my entire work out. The cold rain wasn't going to stop me from having a productive day. Then to top the day off I found two one dollar bills in my pants pockets!! I had no idea I had two George Washingtons just sitting in my pocket, a complete suprise to myself. I love it when you find money. I just wish I could find it more often. Maybe I should invest in a metal detecor and spend some time on the beach this summer?
