It wouldn't be Christmas if I wasn't in PA. Every year my family goes down to Dunmore PA to stay with my moms parents. Along with my pops, ma, and brother, we are accompanied by my moms sister Sue, her husband and two little girls, along with my moms other sister. All these people and its a crowded house for the holidays.

ImageOn Saturday the 22nd my mom, dad, brother, and myself went into NYC for the day. We take a charter bus from Scranton and about two hours later we are in the city. This is much easier than trying to drive into NYC find parking and find our way around. Driving in NYC when you are from Maine can be slightly overwhelming. We went to the Museum of Natural History which was really cool. I've been there before, but it has been several years since my last visit. After the museum we went to Broadway to see Avenue Q. This is an 'R' rated musical which is hilarious. If you ever have a chance to see this musical you should! The best part of the play was when the actors yelled "F*^$ You!" while flipping the bird, when this happened i would look over to my mom and see her laughing! Its good to see after 23yrs of being around her she has developed a sense of humor.

ImageOn Christmas eve the four of us went out for a bird hunt. We brought my Uncle Tom and of course our bird dog Maggie! The hunt was about 2hrs south west of Dunmore. The birds were farm raised and were placed out in the field. All Maggie had to do was find them.  The wind was blowing pretty hard, so this made it somewhat difficult for her to find the birds when going the wrong way.

ImageThe guide put out 12 birds, (8 chuckers and 4 pheasants), We never saw one pheasant, and one chucker got away before we ever could get a shot out.Image

ImageMaggie did a great job. We have never seen her hold a point the way she was. It was amazing to see her hunt so well after 11 years of poor hunting skills.  My dad even had this 'great' idea for all of us to wear hunters orange Santa hats. it was semi amusing.

ImageAfter the hunt, we went over to Cabellas, in Hamburg, PA. This is suppose to be the largest Cabellas in the world. The store was huge! and they had more stuff then one could imagine. Even though it was was huge and they had more stuff than L.L. Bean, I will have to say L.L. Bean does a much better job with there display and do carry an overall better line.Image

Since it was x mas eve we had to make it back in time for dinner with the rest of the fam, and get ready for mid night mass. Church was long, but good. I was able to hit the hay around 1:30am. My little cousins Claire and Mollie (11 and 9?) were up bright and early to see what Santa brought. The morning was spent exchanging gifts and eating breakfast. Once the gifts are opened we have to clean the house and start cooking because all of my moms cousins and aunts and uncles come over for Christmas dinner. Dinner saw 20 people in the house! Overall it was a great holiday. It was really nice to be able to go do some trips with my family and get to see everyone else.

I hope everyone had a great holiday and have a safe new years.
