Lately my training has been my commute into work. Since I picked a job that is just about 25 miles away from the 497 I didn't have much of a choice but to commute by bike. With gas at $4.15 at the end of the street I cant afford to put 50miles a day on the car.
I guess the plant doesn't have showers, but some employee paid to have one put in. The shower is in an old office in the corner of the plant way away from everything. It took a couple of days for me to get a key to the office that held the shower, but once I did I started commuting. So this is my plan thus far: Drive into work Monday morning with 4 days worth of clothing. Ride my bike home Monday. Then ride to and from work Tues, Wed, and Thurs. and ride into work Friday. This will save me 175 miles on my car each week. Do this for the rest of the summer and thats about a savings of 1,750 miles on my car. Thats a lot of miles not to put on my car! Just think of what our planet would be like if everyone got off there ass, stopped smoking butts, didn't eat McDonals, and gave up there multiple trips to Dunkin Donuts? Well I guess I will continue to do my part by using less so the soccer moms can continue driving there Hummers around the city. |
